Key takeaways
- Only Petpooja and Gofrugal publish prices. Restroworks, Rista and UrbanPiper quote on request, so get written quotes that list every module, terminal and outlet.
- All four POS products say they integrate with Swiggy and Zomato. What differs is what else you get with it, such as reconciliation, menu and stock sync, and multi-brand handling.
- Decide on offline behaviour before features. If your internet drops, you need to know whether billing continues and how orders sync afterwards.
- Single cafés can start with a base plan and add a KDS later; cloud kitchens should test multi-brand order routing on a live demo; chains should test central menu control and reporting across outlets.
- Petpooja's kitchen display system sits in a higher tier than its base plan. Check which tier holds each feature you need before comparing prices.
For most Indian restaurants the shortlist is Petpooja, Restroworks, Rista and Gofrugal, with UrbanPiper as an add-on for delivery. All four POS products link to Swiggy and Zomato. Choose by format: a single café needs a cheap base plan, a cloud kitchen needs multi-brand routing, and a chain needs central control. Only Petpooja and Gofrugal publish prices.

What should an Indian restaurant POS do?
It should bill fast, pull in delivery orders, and tell you what you sold and what it cost you. In practice that means five things: billing and GST invoices; integration with Swiggy and Zomato; inventory and recipe costing; a kitchen display system (KDS) or kitchen order tickets; and reports you can trust across outlets.
The aggregator link matters more than most features. Zomato's own integration guide describes three things a connected POS can do: receive and update orders, keep menus in sync in real time, and manage outlet timings and settings (Zomato Developer Platform). Without it, staff re-key orders from tablets into the till, which is slow and error-prone.
How do the main systems compare?
On paper they overlap heavily; the differences are in packaging, deployment and who they are built for. The table uses only what each vendor says on its own site. "Price on request" means the vendor publishes no price.
| Petpooja | Restroworks | Rista | Gofrugal | UrbanPiper | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Restaurant POS | Restaurant POS for chains | Restaurant POS | Retail and restaurant POS/ERP | Delivery integration layer for an existing POS |
| Swiggy and Zomato | Yes, in the base plan (Petpooja) | Yes (Restroworks) | Yes, plus ONDC (Rista) | Food-aggregator online orders listed as a feature (Gofrugal) | Yes, its core product (UrbanPiper) |
| Inventory | In base plan (Petpooja) | Yes, with recipe and central-kitchen modules (Restroworks) | Yes (Rista) | Yes; recipe management listed (Gofrugal) | Stock sync across channels only (UrbanPiper) |
| KDS | In Operations Manager tiers, not base (Petpooja) | Yes (Restroworks) | Not stated on the page we read | Not checked | Not applicable |
| Deployment | Cloud; separate on-premise offline version (Petpooja) | Cloud, hardware-agnostic (Restroworks) | Cloud with offline billing that syncs later (Rista) | Cloud or on-premise (Gofrugal) | Cloud |
| Published price | Base plan ₹12,000 plus tax (Petpooja) | Price on request (Restroworks) | Price on request | Cloud from ₹5,000 a year per store (Gofrugal) | Price on request |
UrbanPiper, Petpooja and Restroworks are all quoted as POS partners on Zomato's integration page (Zomato Developer Platform). We did not find an equivalent public partner list from Swiggy.
What do Petpooja's published prices include?
Petpooja sells a base plan and two add-on bundles. The base plan costs ₹12,000 plus tax and includes cloud billing, inventory, menu management, aggregator integrations, unlimited users and terminals, online installation and training, and online support (Petpooja). The page does not say whether that is per year or per outlet, so ask.
The Operations Manager bundle costs ₹20,000 (Growth) or ₹30,000 (Scale) plus tax. It adds a captain app, token management, Zomato and Swiggy reconciliation, Tally integration, QR ordering and the KDS; Scale adds table reservations, kiosk software and e-invoice credits (Petpooja). A Marketing Manager bundle for CRM, loyalty and WhatsApp messaging runs from ₹20,000 to ₹40,000 plus tax (Petpooja). Petpooja says the plans are indicative and subject to change.
Petpooja also sells an on-premise version that keeps data on a computer in the restaurant and keeps billing without internet (Petpooja).
What do Gofrugal's published prices include?
Gofrugal, now a division of Zoho, lists two cloud restaurant plans: Basic at ₹5,000 and Elite at ₹11,000, each a year per store, with onboarding extra and each additional user at ₹5,000 (Gofrugal). Its on-premise yearly plans run from ₹8,999 to ₹24,999 a year (Gofrugal). The page says prices include GST for purchases in India. It shows the retail plans by default; choose the Restaurant tab to see these.
What about Restroworks, Rista and UrbanPiper?
None of them publishes a price. Restroworks says its pricing depends on software modules, outlet size and terminals, and hardware (Restroworks). It describes its POS as built for chains, and sells central-kitchen, recipe, supply-chain and reporting modules alongside the POS, and says it is used by more than 25,000 restaurants in over 53 countries. That is the vendor's own figure; we have not verified it (Restroworks). For cloud kitchens it offers separate menus for each brand, with orders routed to the right kitchen station by brand (Restroworks).
Rista's site carries a DotPe Pvt. Ltd. copyright notice. It lists Swiggy, Zomato and ONDC integration, offline billing that syncs once the connection returns, and automatic stock-out marking across platforms based on key ingredients (Rista). For cloud kitchens it lists multi-brand billing and two-way aggregator integration (Rista). Its pricing page showed no plans when we checked.
UrbanPiper is not a POS. It sits between your existing POS and the delivery platforms, pushing menus and stock out and pulling orders in (UrbanPiper). It is worth a look if you already have a POS you like that does not connect to an aggregator you need.
Which system fits my format?
Match the system to how you sell, not to the longest feature list. This table is our judgement from the vendors' own descriptions; it is not a ranking, and any of these products could suit you after a demo.
| Format | What matters most | Where to start |
|---|---|---|
| Single café | Low fixed cost, fast billing, simple inventory, QR or table ordering | Petpooja base plan or Gofrugal cloud Basic, both with published prices (Petpooja, Gofrugal); add a KDS only when the kitchen needs it |
| QSR | Billing speed, token or KDS flow, aggregator orders on one screen, offline billing | Petpooja with the Operations Manager tier, Rista, or Restroworks; test offline billing on the demo |
| Cloud kitchen | Multi-brand menus, brand-wise KDS routing, aggregator reconciliation, stock-outs pushed to every platform | Restroworks and Rista both describe multi-brand handling (Restroworks, Rista); Petpooja lists reconciliation in its Operations tiers (Petpooja) |
| Multi-outlet chain | Central menu and price control, outlet-level reporting, central kitchen and purchasing, ERP or Tally link | Restroworks is built for this; Petpooja and Gofrugal also sell chain and ERP integrations |
What should I ask on a demo?
Ask the vendor to show, not tell. Five questions separate the systems quickly:
- Pull the router cable mid-bill. Does billing continue, and how do aggregator orders reach the kitchen while offline?
- Change a price once and show it update on Swiggy, Zomato and every outlet.
- Mark one ingredient out of stock and show every dish that uses it go unavailable on both apps.
- Show last month's aggregator payouts reconciled against orders, line by line.
- Put every module, terminal, outlet, integration and support fee in the written quote, with the renewal price.
Worked example: comparing year-one cost for a single café
These numbers are illustrative, not quotes. Suppose a café wants billing, inventory, aggregator integration and a KDS, has one outlet and two billing devices, and needs one extra user login.
On Petpooja, the base plan covers billing, inventory and aggregators, but the KDS is in the Operations Manager bundle. If the base plan is ₹12,000 and the Growth bundle ₹20,000, both before tax, the software starts at ₹32,000 plus tax, assuming both are annual per outlet. Check that assumption with the vendor.
On Gofrugal cloud Elite at ₹11,000, plus ₹5,000 for the extra user, the software is ₹16,000 including GST, before onboarding. Whether a KDS is included is something to confirm on the demo.
On Restroworks or Rista, the café would need written quotes before any comparison. In every case, add hardware: a billing terminal, a thermal printer, a tablet or screen for the KDS, and a cash drawer. Hardware is priced separately by most vendors and resellers, so get it quoted alongside the software.
How we made this
We read each vendor's own product and pricing pages and Zomato's POS integration guide, and did not rely on reseller or review-site price lists; AI tools helped gather and draft; the author checked every figure against its source. Our editorial standards
